Exodus 20:21  “And the LORD said to Moses Go down and warn the people, lest they cross the barrier, breakthrough unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.”
Hebrews 12:29  “Our God is a consuming fire!”
C.S. Lewis, in his Narnia literature, has Lucy discussing Aslan, the lion, with beaver.  Lucy asks, “Is he safe?”  Beaver responds, “Of course he not safe, but he’s good!”
We must let God be God.  His ways, and His thoughts are so far above ours, as the heavens are above the earth.  See Isaiah 55.  He is an awesome God.  That is why we are not to make any graven images of Him.  To represent Him by anything in any way is to reduce Him from that great and awesome God that He is.  J.B. Phillips has written a book called, Your God is Too Small.  In it he recounts the many false cariacatures that we have developed in our theology about God.  All of them are inadequate representations of Him.  Many other psuedo-scholars, and self-acclaimed athiests have found it lucrative to attack the God they claim doesn’t even exist.  Richard Dawkins has given us his futile attempt in his God Delusion.  Christopher Hitchens has made his contribution with his blasphemous God is Not Great.
What is a Christian to think?  I think we should join with the Apostle Paul and declare-“Let God be true and every man a liar!”  (Rom. 3:4).  God is great.  He has sent a great Saviour.  Jesus has provided a so-great Salvation.  It is a salvation we dare not neglect.  It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God (Heb. 10:31).  Is He safe?  Only when you are sheltered under the wings of His Salvation!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  Fear God and you’ll have nothing else to Fear!
