PERFECT REFLECTORS (FEBRUARY 6, 2010) PDF Print E-mail

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 19:1

Several Apollo space missions landed on the moon. Part of their exploration was to gather and bring back moon rocks and moon dust for scientific evaluation. NASA scientists analyzed the lunar materials. They looked at it through their microscopes . They weighed it! They studied its chemical formulae. They were amazed and overwhelmed by the chemical compostion of the lunar material. They said, "to our amazement, the moon is covered with little beads of glass!" Then they said that it contains great amounts of titanium which, in its oxide form, can bend light more beautifully and more gloriously than a diamond! On the moon there are no trees; no vegetation; no oceans; no clouds; no mist; ONLY CRATERS! Craters and irregular features, like the channeled glass on the lamp of the headlight of an automobile. The moon is a PERFECT REFLECTOR! That is what makes it shine! No power of its own. But what a PERFECT REFLECTOR OF THE SUN! The astronauts did not have to go to the moon to make that discovery! The Bible clearly says in Genesis that God made the moon to be a GIANT REFLECTOR to give nocturnal light to the earth. A GIANT PERFECT REFLECTOR OF THE GLORY OF A GREAT AND AWESOME GOD!

"The heavens declare the glory of God...day unto day uttereth speech; night unto night sheweth knowledge." (Ps. 19:1). The Hebrew translation could be paraphrased, "The moon is not giving glory to the brilliant orb of the day, but keeps on saying nightly, LOOK AT GOD!"

We too can be reflectors. Imperfect as we are. We can let our lives reflect the Perfect "Sun of Righteousness" ( Malachi 4:2).

My son Joshua has a favorite T-Shirt. It reads, "BE A MOON-REFLECT THE SON!"

Let that be more than a T-shirt logo. Let it be a daily reality! BETTER-A "DAILY REFLECTION!"

THOUGHT: MIRRORS COVERED WITH CLUTTER REFLECT VERY LITTLE
